World’s Newest “Most Expensive Dessert”

Twenty Five Thousand Dollar Dessert

“The people at the Serendipity 3 restaurant on East 60th Street announced today that they would offer a $25,000 dessert called the Frrrozen Haute Chocolate. The item, a high-end version of the venerable restaurant’s Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, was declared the world’s most expensive dessert today by Guinness World Records”

Frrozen Huate Chocolate

I know I’ve went off on tangents along these same lines before. But it never ceases to annoy me. Not first of which is, is this even a dessert? it’s a slushy hot chocolate. And it may also prove to be dangerous to one’s health as well as the wallet. It is infused with 5 grams of 23 Carat “edible” gold. The goblet is lined in the same gold, and the whipped cream and garnish is covered in the same gold. I’m wondering if there’s any sort of health risk to ingest that much metal into one’s system.

Lucky you, you get to keep that goblet, the golden spoon encrusted with white and chocolate colored diamonds. AND the 18 carat gold bracelet that has 1 carat of white diamonds. Not a bad score, huh? I get excited at TGI Friday’s to get to “keep the glass.” Although, I generally only pay four or five dollars extra for that little souvineer, not thousands.

Serendipity3’s menu already includes an entry in Forbe’s Traveler’s list of World’s Most Expensive Desserts with their $1000 Golden Opulence Sundae. It’s quite a leap from one to twenty-five thousand dollars but diamond bracelets make a lot of difference, as well as one of the world’s most expensive truffles  used as garnish instead of your typical maraschino cherry. And why wouldn’t you? a jar of cherries would go for about 2? 3 dollars maybe? and the La Madeline du Truffle is $200.00 for the single piece of candy. Which by the way, is also a third entry in the “Most Expensive Desserts” list.

So there you have it. Serendipity3 and The Jewelers, Euphoria, have collaborated to deliver you jewelry you can eat? dessert you can wear?  Or is it one stop shopping: chocolate, jewelry, and a refreshing beverage. PLUS you get to keep the spoon!
